Amelie
After watching the movie Amelie, one word comes to mind...different. To begin with the story line of this movie was definitely unique. Amelie positive and kinda corky personality always kept me interested in what she would say or do next. She has a positive attitude and contagious smile. I liked how she made a short film for the glass man on what he should do. After a few of them, I liked how the "glass man" made one for her implying that she should strive her goal and try to catch the one guy that she likes. The nice thing about this film was that it's not the ordinary love story. Well yes Amelie gets him in the end but all the parts in between that is far from ordinary. Another trait about Amelie is her way of match making. It was kinda ironic that she hooked up the drug guy and her friend in the cafe but can't have a relationship of her own. This film kept my attention with it's colorful scenes with the black and white flashbacks. If it wasn't the color of the scenes, it could have been the pace of the different scenes. There were moments in the film that went by so quickly, I almost felt like I was on a rollar coaster ride. Lastly if that wasn't enough, what about the random habits or thoughts of hers. From collecting rocks and skipping them to wondering "How many people at that moment were having orgasisms?" I feel the gnomb played a huge role in the movie. When she was young and lost her mother, I think she traveled that gnomb around the world acting like her mom. Towards the end of the movie the gnomb finally makes it back and then the father finally decides to go on vacation and travel. I think he didn't want to go in the beginning cause he didn't have his wife to go with him but after awhile I think he moved on from that and realized that maybe the gnomb was a sign and that his wife wanted him to travel the world?
