sicko
The documentary "sicko" by Michael Moore was very eye opnening since my major is Nursing so I will be workin the healthcare field. I really like this film cause i personally can relate to it and i'm going to have to deal with issues like this in my future carreer. I liked how Michael Moore incorporated his humor, which is in many of his films, into "sicko". One of my favorite lines that Michael Moore said was " What'd they charge you for that baby?" it's definitily crazy seeing how many countries don't charge you for healthcare. I thought it was fascinating that in Londom they reimburse you for your travel costs. This just shows how ridiculous the amount of money spent on healthcare in the U.S. is. When Michael stated that America's healthcare system was ranked 37th in the world right above Slovenia, I was shocked. We always talk about how many great things there are in American, like different opportunites but we can't help out our fellow citizens with healthcare coverage. I've heard many stories on how people avoided going to seek clinical help, but rather dealt with the pain because they didn't have healthcare insurance that covered the check-up and other appointments they would need. People are constantly worring about making the payments that they lose sight of whats best for their health. Also i think the stress of insurance plays a large role in the career you choose. If your job doesn't involve any coverage of health/dental you are in big trouble. In the film when they talk about this lady's health insurance not covering her emergency trip in an ambulance cause it wasn't "pre-approved", I was stunned by the insurance company's response. When did this lady have time to "pre-approve it?" She didn't have a choice on riding in the ambulance because she was unconscious. I liked watching this film cause it helped us look at reality as of right now and opened our eyes to current issues that need to be covered.
